Academic Evaluation Study in Burdwan

In collaboration with SIRG, INCD conducted basic profiling along with academic wellbeing studies of 200 students in a residential school for the underprivileged students, in Palla Road, Burdwan. We conducted academic evaluation study on the students from Grade 1 to 5 through standard testing tools used for academic profiling (ASER), which enabled us to understand their academic credentials and operative hindrances in gaining quality education.




Academic Evaluation Study in Diamond Harbour

INCD has conducted academic profiling among fifty in-service school teachers in the rural area of Bagaria, Diamond Harbour, South 24 Parganas. All these women were in-service school teachers in the local schools. All of them were English, Bengali and Social Studies teachers. INCD took several tests assessing their prior knowledge of English and through the profiling, aimed at evaluating their spoken and communicative skills in English.




SHG Profiling in Murshidabad

INCD, in collaboration with SIRG conducted life and livelihood profiling of 50 Self Help Group women of Kandi, Murshidabad. The profiling helped us to understand the operative hindrances faced by the women in the locality, which can serve as a guiding light in formulating measures for empowering them.



Baseline Studies in South 24 Parganas

INCD, in collaboration with SIRG, have conducted profiling of a low cost private school in Pailan, South 24 Parganas. Vidya Tirtha Shishu Niketan as a low cost private school is quite well known in its area. It was observed that despite of having quite a number of students and strict academic schedule, the academic scores of the students are very low. Our profiling enabled us to trace the reason for the poor academic performance of students to the inadequate infrastructure and teaching faculty appointed by the school.




Baseline Studies in Nivedita Primary School, Kalicharanpur

Focusing on assessing the learning achievement levels of students (young and adults) from lower socio-economic background, we have conducted student profiling in a village in Kalicharanpur, South 24 Parganas. We have conducted ASER studies and competency studies to know the current level of learning among students.



Baseline Studies in Ramkrishna Ashram, Chandanpiri

In January 2016, we collaborated with Chandanpiri Ramkrishna Ashram at Chandanpiri, Namkhana in South 24 Parganas. Ramkrishna Ashram at Chandanpiri is a school for underserved children located at Namkhana, a rural area in the south 24 Parganas, established in 1953, where we conducted profiling of enlisted students.



Socio-Economic Studies in Birbhum

Within the radius of 50 Kms from Bolpur, Birbhum, we have conducted extensive surveys of school students and adult learners. Our field investigators conducted a door to door survey. The questionnaire comprised of questions such as family income, occupation, expenses towards private tuitions and finally academic level of students. The profiling helped us to understand the socio economic condition of the district and the operative hindrances that sustain the marginalization of the rural area.




Artisan Profiling in Birbhum

We have done profiling of micro-entrepreneurs and artisans who work on Kantha stitch and Leather goods from villages in Sriniketan-Santiniketan Block, Bolpur. We have conducted in-depth interviews of artisans and micro-entrepreneurs who works with Kantha stich and leather goods. We have also taken interviews of Industrial Development Manager of District Industrial Centre in Suri, Birbhum and Leather cluster heads from Sriniketan Block. The purpose of the interviews were inquiring the current socio-economic conditions of rural artisans in Bolpur Block.




Academic Evaluation Studies in Nadia

In April 2015, INCD identified Ma Sharada Shishu Tirtha, a residential school for underserved tribal girls, located near Krishnanagar in Nadia, West Bengal where we conducted basic community profiling. The community profiling included demography of the region, before and after study of academic conditions of students from the school, which helped us to understand the issues intrinsic to the locality better.
